Dear W. C.,
First, I have to tell you that I have had four brand new cars prior to this 2003 Escalade. Not once…NOT ONCE, did I feel an ounce of appreciation toward the car salesman. I usually felt like we were opponents, and that I was the ultimate loserI either left feeling like I had been defeated or cheated by the salesman and the dealership, even after I applied research, well honed negotiating skills and tons of common sense. Usually, when the check was written (I don’t “do” car payments) the salesman seemed suspicious (at best), running check after check against my Drivers License and Social Security number. Up until the car was driven off the lot, the salesman was trying to get me to finance or lease! All I could figure is that it must have been a better deal for HIM, not me! I would feel beat up at the end of the deal. Although it was always nice to be in a new car, the experience was extremely painful.
Then, Terry Peak gave us your name, and THIS new car buying experience could not have been more different. You were upfront and straight forward with my husband, respecting everything he wanted, without putting him down or trying to make him think “there’s no way” you can get that price on THAT vehicle. You didn’t try to talk him into financing, extra (superfluous) options, or steer him toward another vehicle all together. (One dealer actually told us that we needed a “loaded up Tahoe” for the price we were willing to pay for the Escalade.)
Don told me you were always kind, cordial, friendly and upbeat on the phone, listening to him, considering our wants and needs, and making him feel confident about dealing with you. I am always a skeptic, however, once I met you, I felt the same warmth and trust Don felt after speaking with you on the phone. You exude an aura of honesty and kindness, which is a gift, and certainly has behooved you in your business.
Don and I both felt like we had known you forever.
You made us feel so comfortable in your home/office! I was so impressed that you helped Amy get the batteries in those wireless headphones, so she could watch a DVD as we drove home! (….and thanks for disposing of that Hawaiian Punch can!)Amy paid you a huge compliment, saying how “awesome” you were, after complaining many times about the “nerdy car guys” at the dealerships. She thought it was “way cool” that you still surfed and liked that you had the parrots and all the “fox” collectibles!
A simple thank you, would have been enough, but, I wanted to elaborate upon this most pleasant experience, and tell you exactly why we are all singing your praises.
I will never, ever deal with anyone else when it comes to a new car purchase, and I will encourage everyone I know to call you after they have shopped around and know what they want.
I have never, EVER recommended a dealership or a car salesman to ANYONE, and I have never, EVER felt this good about a new car purchase. NOT EVER!
Unfortunately, after years of not so great experiences, I’m very, very jaded when it comes to buying a car, and it takes A LOT to impress me! You have impressed me, Don, and our (usually indifferent) fourteen year old!
You have made all of the Salisbury family very happy. Blessings to you and yours. We wish you much success and good fortune!
With gratitude,
